In some cases Halley has been used to replace Mulhall.Irish (County Clare) : shortened Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó hÃille ‘descendant of Ãille’, apparently from áille ‘beauty’, but possibly a variant of Ó hÃinle (see Hanley).
